Season 3 Champions!

Saturday, October 17th we had our 3rd season Saturday League championship game between the Agletics and the Wet Mob! The Agletics were favored and showed why they were the favorite to win the game. From the get go, the Agletics put their foot on the gas pedal and didn't look back. An early onslaught from EJ and Damarr put the Wet Mob in a hole early, and the Agletics just never looked back. The Agletics were able to score at will, and especially from the outside. As a team they made 7 3-pointers and were able to get the rest of the team hyped up with their famous "BOOM" chants after every 3 point made. The Wet Mob just couldn't buy a basket in this game. As their two leading scorers this season, Henry and Jeremy were held to a combined 17 points. The Agletics, more known for their offense, had a more stout defense this game. Finals MVP Damarr Eagles also couldn't be stopped as he accounted for 26 points and always found a way to score every time the Wet Mob looked like they had a chance to rally. Thank you to both teams for showing excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations to the Wet Mob for a hard fought season and for showing a never say die attitude. And once again, congratulations to the Agletics for achieving the ultimate goal while winning with class!

FINALS MVP:

Damarr Eagles (Agletics)

Game Stats: 26 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL

REGULAR SEASON MVP:

Arnold (SUPREME)

REGULAR SEASON STATS: 25.0 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 0.4 APG, 1.2 SPG.

Congratulations to Arnold of team Supreme for winning the PPBL Saturday Rec Division Regular Season MVP! Arnold the "Bakulaw" is known for terrorizing his opponents. He does most of his damage on the low block, where he is almost unguardable if he's able to post up. Arnold is known for scoring in bunches and when he starts scoring, it gets difficult to contain him, which opens opportunities for the rest of his teammates. He also dominates the boards, and gets over 12 a game. He uses those second chance points to frustrate opponents. Not only is he really good in the paint, but Arnold has great instincts and is great in the transition game as well. He is one of the best at leaking out and getting easy points. Congratulations again, Arnold!

Honorable mentions:

Jon Ray (Shrimp Ala): 19.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.1 BPG.
Teody (Tag Hirap): 26.9 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.3 BPG.
Dylan (Suave): 16.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.5 BPG.

ALL STAR GAME MVP:

Jeremy Lopez (WET MOB)

GAME STATS: 17 PTS, 16 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 1 BLK.

Congratulations to Jeremy Lopez of the Wet Mob for winning the All-Star Game MVP! Fresh off a playoff victory, Jeremy continued where he left off. He proved that he belonged in the game by scoring 17 points, draining 3 3-pointers and attacking the basket. Not only did he help out in the scoring department, but in a game where defense isn't emphasized, Jeremy went out of his way to show his tenacity. He grabbed 16 rebounds, got 2 steals and even got a block. In games where players don't put forth their best effort, Jeremy went above and beyond the expectations, thus earning him PPBL's first all-star MVP award. Congratulations once again, Jeremy!
