JORDAN (NO FERA)
20 pts, 8 reb, 3 ast.
Saturday, January 14 at the Matt Jimenez Community Center the PPBL had it's Saturday League Championship, and it sure did not disappoint. This game may have been one of the most anticipated championship matches in our league history as we had the defending 2-time champions Bruisers taking on No Fera in a championship rematch from a few seasons ago. In the site poll, No Fera was viewed as favorites by a sizable margin, which had the Bruisers being a very rare underdog. No Fera got off to a fast start thanks to Finals MVP Jordan in which he scored a fast 8 points. The Bruisers struggled with their offense and their defense didn't look as sharp, and No Fera took advantage of the opportunity to score and build their lead. But No Fera could not blow the lead away as the Bruisers kept the game in close range thanks to Andrew G "the G-Man" having a big game. No Fera had an answer to every run the Bruisers tried to make, especially Jordan who made drive killing buckets for No Fera. The Bruisers were even able to withstand a Teody barrage in the 3rd quarter and kept the game close. Late in the game, last finals MVP Jerome fouled out and it was a big loss for the Bruisers, losing one of their top scorers and playmakers. Thanks to a clutch layup by Adrian of No Fera, they took the lead and the Bruisers had one final play with 2 seconds left, but ended up missing a game-winning 3. It was a hell of a game, and thanks to the Bruisers for a great showing, and congratulations to No Fera for winning the PPBL Saturday championship!
Thank you to our all-stars for making the game fun, competitive and showing what the league is all about with pride, passion and sportsmanship!
