Sunday, July 2 at 6pm the PPBL held their Sunday Rec League championship game. The battle was between the two top teams in the league, #1 Take Care taking on #2 First Breed. The game was very high scoring as both teams came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. In the first half, Brandon of First Breed was unstoppable, scoring 22 of his 36 points and looking to earn his team a championship. But, Take Care weathered the storm, and had runs of their own. In the first half, First Breed controlled the pace and tempo of the game, so for Take Care adjustments had to be made. And in the second half, Take Care adjusted. Take Care ramped up the defense and created many turnovers to take the lead against First Breed, and then the season MVP put the game in his hands scoring 27 of his 37 points in the 2nd half and 20 points in the 4th quarter, with one of the most impressive finals performances in PPBL history. Both teams put up a great effort and a great fight, but ultimately only one team can win, and Take Care took care of business, 81-75. Congratulations to Take Care for winning the championship, and congratulations to First Breed for putting up a great fight and having a great season!

Sunday July 9 we had our championship game between Genesis and Agletics. It was a game between two of the most successful teams in the league, and while Agletics were short-handed, they kept the game very close. They showed tremendous heart and had a never-say-die attitude, keeping the game close for 3 quarters, but then Genesis showed why they are the premier open division team by putting it away and putting on a show in the 4th quarter by finally blowing it open. They were led by their finals MVP the "3-point specialist" Darius and he couldn't miss. Ant and Patrick led the Agletics in a strong effort, but the depth was too much for the Agletics and Genesis won another championship, cementing their status as a dynasty in the league. Congratulations to Agletics for a great effort, and congratulations to Genesis for winning the championship!
